Quote by Doris Brown Heritage

Running is a road to self-awareness and reliance-you can push yourself to extremes and learn the harsh reality of your physical and mental limitations or coast quietly down a solitary path watching the earth spin beneath your feet -Doris Brown Heritage
Just registered for Edgewater Back To School 5k. It's one that I looked at, and missed last year. Thanks to the email sent from Edgewater Commerce, and the Fed Ex guy that goes to New Story Church for reminding me. My mileage has increased: bike, and running, due to Chicago Marathon in less than three weeks. I'm curious how my legs will do, and finally happy to make it out to a race in my neighborhood.

Have a great day, and God Bless! Shout to all of my readers for Portugal

Today's run

During my run I took a turn, after leaving Berger Park, and headed straight for Loyola University. I got up in time to run, and also see the sunrise at a few of my favorite running places in Edgewater. I've posted many in the past, but these are a few from today. Great view of the sunrise at Lake Michigan. I'm so lucky to live so close to it.

After my view of sunrise, I got a few loops in around Loyola's track; it's small, but definitely does the job. No complaints here, and it's only a one mile away from my apartment.

Of course I took several selfies, but I won't annoy you with those. I wore my "Tiki Run" singlet with orange Nike Tempo Shorts; there very comfortable, and I have many different colors.

Random fountain statue on Kenmore in Edgewater; seen while walking my neighborhood.

It can turn a good relationship sour!

"People are raised differently and have different life experiences! What bothers you in a relationship, may not be something your other half use to, and should be approached lightly, instead of in a bitter way. A bitter approach can turn a good relationship sour!"

Crazy English by Richard Lederer

Crazy English
by Richard Lederer

Let’s face it: English is a crazy language. There is no egg in eggplant or ham in
hamburger, neither apple nor pine in pineapple.
English muffins were not invented in England or french fries in France. Sweetmeats are
candies, while sweetbreads, which aren’t sweet, are meat.
We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can
work slowly, boxing rings are square, and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a
pig.
And why is it that writers write, but fingers don’t fing, grocers don’t groce, and hammers
don’t ham?
If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn’t the plural of booth beeth? One goose, 2 geese. So,
one moose, 2 meese? One index, two indices? Is cheese the plural of choose?
If teachers taught, why didn’t preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what
does a humanitarian eat?
In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? Ship by truck and send
cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell? Park on driveways and drive on
parkways?
How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy
are opposites? How can the weather be hot as hell one day an cold as hell another?
When a house burns up, it burns down.
You fill in a form by filling it out and an alarm clock goes off by going on.
When the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible.
And why, when I wind up my watch, I start it, but when I wind up this essay, I end it?
Now I know why I flunked my English. It’s not my fault; the silly language doesn’t quite
know whether it’s coming or going.

Orders

I just received my orders today. Finally! I detach from my current unit, January 17th. I will be flying back to Illinois on January 19th. Great day! Not looking forward to the cold weather, and crappy roads in Chicago. I will be on leave until February 15th, my End Of Active Service date. Ready to start a new career.
