baltimore half

Looking to set a new pr for the half marathon this saturday in Baltimore. I hope the weather is as good as it was for the Army 10 Miler.

Depending on how i'm feeling I will be running the Boo run 4 life 10k on the next day.

army 10miler

army 10miler

Can't wait for the Army 10miler this sunday, its gonna be a great race.

kensington 8k

Felt really good before this race, it was pretty much one of my best races in Maryland. I Made my way to the starting line and didn't realize I was missing somethin until the sound of the word GO!. I was missing my timing chip, but it didn't keep me from running the race. Even though I still put out the same way I would have with a chip, my motivation to compete in the racepacket grand prix series of races is pretty much finished. You live and you learn through mistakes...

8.61 miles

Felt really good last night so I decided to do another run. I had the energy to go a little farther but didn't

kensington 8k

Just signed up for the Kensington 8k next week, I figured that I'd run it since its one of the racepacket grand prix series races. I also have another race the next day (National Capital 20miler) but I'm running it more as a training run than a all out race.

parks half marathon

This sunday I ran the Parks Half Marathon in Maryland. The course started in Rockville and ended in Bethesda, from there all the runners caught the metro train back to Rockville. I was looking to set a new PR for the Half Marathon but didn't get it.

recruiting duty

So I've made up my mind. I'm gonna give it a try, all I pretty much need to do is extend my contract in the Marine Corps for only 1 more yr, nothing more than that. Sittin around I kept thinkin about alot of things, mainly my future. Even though I really don't wanna do it I have to. Its either this or the military will mess my whole life over for denying orders and I really don't want that, its gonna be a long 2 more yrs.

Great race tonight, overall I came in 4th place. If only the race would of been longer I would of got that 3rd place spot. My best races seem to be the ones that I run in the evening. Another big race next week on Labor day the Abebe Bikila Half Marathon, it will be my 7th marathon. I'm hoping to set a new pr.

orders to san diego

I just received orders to San Diego for recruiting school. I will be there for 7 weeks. After school I will pretty much head back to Virginia until I recieve orders again for the actual recruiting job.

Back to work for me tomorrow, I have been on leave since Aug 6th.

chicago distance classic

Both of my aunts came out to watch me run the Chicago Distance Classic. I haven't seen either of them in like 9 yrs. I even offered them both to be in my marathon finisher photo. Soon as I arrived to the starting line I almost forgot they were even coming in the first place, until one of the runners got my attention and pointed them out. The race wasn't that bad, my goal was run it in 1hr and 25 min, but the wind at the turn around point permitted me from doing that, so I ended with 1hr and 29 min. After running in this race I realized how blessed some of us are to be able to run at these faster paces like 5min, and 6min miles, especially for a half or full marathon.

race tomorrow

6.11 miles

Got up early this morning and did a 50 minute run on the Lake shore trail. A mile into the run my legs were hurting really bad, but I pushed through the pain, I figured it wasn't gonna last long anyway. Next time I'm gonna save the sprints for another day and not before a big race. The one thing I hate about running along the Lake shore is the bugs! to many bugs, and they're everywhere, its really annoying trying to focus on a run when you have bugs flying in your eyes, and mouth.

Wasn't really in the mood to do anything today. I went to the expo earlier to pick up my bib number, and do a little shopping. After that I pretty much went back to my room and fell asleep. Idk, maybe all that touring around Chicago is catching up with me.

sears tower

5.54 miles

Did a short run after my tour around Chicago today, my feet were so tired after touring so I kept it short. I went to a really nice museum today, spent over 3hrs in this one museum. I wanted to go to the aquarium also but I figured I'd save it for another day since I still have a couple more days here. Earlier I went to watch the Elvis is Alive 5k at Millennium park, I originally came to Chicago so early just to run that race but they changed it to more of a fun run, and decided not to record any of the times. I ended up volunteer instead of watching the race, it was actually fun helping out, I had a really good time.

finally made it

Finally made it to Chicago, the weather is really nice here, good race weather. I wanted to do a run earlier around the downtown area, but ended up going to target to buy a lock for my locker, and some other things, after that I pretty much was in tourist mode. I'm planning on getting up tomorrow and doing a short run. The weather is so nice there's no need to get up early in the morning.

buckingham fountain

7.66 miles

Didn't really get much sleep last night, cause my sleep cycle is jacked up, lately I've been going to sleep around 8pm, and waking up at 1am every night pretty much. I ended up cleaning my room and messing around online. Decided to go on a run around 5am, I ended up bringing my red flasher so I could be visible since it was pretty dark out, I ended up running on the roads cause I couldn't see the path of the trail on base. After finally making it off base I couldn't make up my mind on how long of a run I wanted to run, then finally after a mile out I decided to run across the bridge to the Lincoln Memorial then back to base

11.87 miles

Today my goal was to just to run by time instead of by miles, my goal was to run 1hr and 20 minutes, but I ended up going over 13minutes, a total of 11.87 miles. I ran one of my old and favorite routes from Ft Myer base to Capitol bldg with a little more sites on the way, I was trying to find this monument over in the Jefferson Memorial area but couldn't find it. My evening workout I ended up going to the pool swimming a couple laps, and I also did some pool running.

3.1 miles

Today I was originally gonna start training for my next full marathon (marine corps marathon) but ended up running a 5k (3.1miles) over in belle haven (summer strides). I figure that I might end up doing a run later on or either early Sunday morning, but either way I'm in training for my 2nd marine corps marathon.

team fmmc

Made the Ft Myer Military Community running team (FMMC) ,I got the call yesterday at lunch time confirming if I was still interested in running with the team at this years Army 10 miler.

team qualifiers

This morning I ran a 10k race on Ft Myer base. The race was a qualifier to run for team Ft Myer at the Army 10miler. I have a good feeling that I made the team, after overall coming in 3rd.

Qualified for recruiting today, I go off to recruiting school Jan 2009 in San diego, not really the job I wanted in the military but sometimes you have to just suck it up, I don't think i'll be re-enlisting again.

10.57 miles

Short 4.45 mile run this morning, my legs felt a little tired maybe from the eliptical workout I did last night, I was considering doing this race tonight at Ft Hunt park (steve thompson/belle haven 8k) as a evening run but the race got cancelled due to thunderstorm.

6.12 mile run this evening with the Nova runners, I ran for a little while with them just to see the route then at the turn around point I took off and ran at my own pace. My body is gettin usta the rough training for next month when I start training for my 3rd full marathon (Marine Corps Marathon), I want to qualify for the Boston Marathon, in order to do that I would have to run the 26.2 mile run in atleast 3:10.

ultramarathon man

quick run before work

Got up this morning at 0530, but didn't get out the door to run until 0550, I ended up running a short 4.19 miles to the Iwo Jima Memorial through Ft Myer base and back. Finally stopped in to Semper fit today and talked about the All Marine Cross Country team in 2009, if the recruiting thing doesn't workout then i'm definetly gonna submit my resume in to join.

short run

Short run this morning with the platoon at 0630, we did a 2 mile indian run with some extra added excersizes at the 1 mile mark, after running with the platoon I wanted to go do a much more faster pace run on my own but I changed my mind and ended up going to the gym and doing a couple leg machines, trying to avoid running in the heat so much.

Twilighter this saturday, i'm really lookin foward to this race and also racing my friend robert, i'm 0-4 against him, lookin to goin 1-4 at the Twilighter.

I wanted to do a evening run but i'm really not feeling to good, all I can think about is running but I have to remember that i'm sick.

Today's morning platoon run at 0600, we ran at the pace of are slowest guy (10 min mile pace). The main part of the run was running up & down the stairs 10 times, on the way back to base we ran individually, my goal was not to run that fast but i ended up running at a cruise pace of 6 min mile. I promised one of the guys that I would be his pacer for his Physical Fitness Test this morning so he could get a good score, it really feels good when people look at me as being in that good of shape (maybe I should become a personal trainer), my goal was to push him to run the 3 miles in 20 minutes but that didn't happend, he ended with 21:10, soon as we crossed the line I caught him when he fell to the ground, even though he didn't get the time he wanted i'm still proud that he pushed himself.

recruiting duty

So I have been selected to be screened for recruiting duty by the Headquarters Marine Corps East Coast Recruiter Screening Team (HRST). I'm debating if I should get out of the Marine Corps, join the Army or either just go ahead and give the recruiting thing a try, I love the Marine Corps but I will not sell it or lie just to get people to join.

chicago distance classic

The Chicago Distance Classic half marathon is next month, I just put in my leave days today, the race is Aug 10th but i'm planning on arriving in Chicago on the 6th because i'm interested in a 5k on the 7th (Elvis is Alive 5k) , hotel undecided yet but I did find a cheap place (Hostelling International Chicago), all of the good ones with good military discounts are like 14 to 20 miles away from where I wanna be, I wanna be in the Grant Park area since its closer to the starting line & the expo wich is at the Hilton, i'm trying not to spend over $1,000 for everything but the hotel I wanna stay in is cuttin it close.
