What are the unique needs of women with substance use disorders?

Gender-related drug abuse treatment should attend not only to biological differences but also to social and environmental factors, all of which can influence the motivations for drug use, the reasons for seeking treatment, the types of environments where treatment is obtained, the treatments that are most effective, and the consequences of not receiving treatment. Many life circumstances predominate in women as a group, which may require a specialized treatment approach. For example, research has shown that physical and sexual trauma followed by post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is more common in drug-abusing women than in men seeking treatment. Other factors unique to women that can influence the treatment process include issues around how they come into treatment (as women are more likely than men to seek the assistance of a general or mental health practitioner), financial independence, and pregnancy and child care.

Englewood 5k

I loved many things about this race: the cause, price, experience and organization. First off; the two main things that attracted me to this race was the name itself, and the price of the race. Gun violence is a huge problem in Englewood, and has been for years.

The price was great, and affordable. Most races increase prices as the race comes near, but I didn't really see that with Englewood 5k. Englewood 5k is by far the lowest costing race that I have ran in Chicago so far, and I'm sure it will not be topped.

The experience, and organization of the race was great! Lots of positive energy; a very well marked course, and safe considering the area. The race had Chicago Police Officers all over it, well stocked with water, and the celebration area 'Whole Foods' had a table giving out bananas,  apples, and information about events at Whole Foods itself. The race brought positive energy with music, energetic runners, volunteers, supporters, and a DJ that brought extra encouragement while on the the microphone. Prior to the race I was greeted by Mayor Rahm Emanuel; running in to the finish I was greeted by many, and given a finishers medal that I will add to my many other memories. I enjoyed Englewood 5k, and it most definitely will not be my last.

As a student at Kennedy King College, and future alumni; I hope to do many positive things in the area, and being part of this event is one of them. If your looking to do this event in the future; you will not be let down. Great race organized by Ariana Taylor, and Andrea NaTay Drane

But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

Luke 18:1‭-‬8

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought.  And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’   “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I donʼt fear God or care what people think,  yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she wonʼt eventually come and attack me!’ ”  And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says.  And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?  I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”
Luke 18:1‭-‬8 NIV

Are sukkah at Edgewater Presbyterian Church : )

A sukkah is a booth in which Jews are commanded to dwell during the festival of Tabernacles [Sukkot], as stated in the book of Leviticus (23:42‑5): “You shall live in booths [sukkot] seven days; all citizens in Israel shall live in booths, in order that future generations may know that I made the Israelite people live in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, I am the Lord your God.”
